Tomorrow, Saturday, March 6th, Flaming Tusk pollutes the netwaves with a half-hour long live in-studio set (plus a band interview) on WNYU.org streaming radio’s unbelievably killer metal show SOMA DEGENERATE. The show runs from 4PM to 6PM Eastern Standard Time and is available anywhere the tentacles of the internet reach.
We suggest tuning in right at 4PM, because even if we’re not on until later the show’s selecta Navjot has pretty wicked taste. Previous playlists include Bolt Thrower, Cynic, Cobalt, Obscura, Sepultura, Destroyer 666, Opeth and many other anti-luminaries of the metal world.

That’s SOMA DEGENERATE, streaming every Saturday (but especially 3/6/2010) on WNYU.org from 4PM to 6PM EST.

This morning, Flaming Tusk released their first LP, entitled Old, Blackened Century. You know that to be the best possible title for anything. It streams and slowly flattens the whole of the internet from here. You may also purchase it for whatever price you desire. I purchased it for $6.66 because I am juvenile.

Did you get all that? IT’S FREE. For NO MONEY you can see Flaming Tusk, Wizardry and Empyreon rage the night away PLUS there will be half-naked, tattooed go-go dancing girls gyrating, $3 draught beer all night long, and all-metal DJ sets. $0. Gratis. I mean, what more economical way could you possibly spend your completely Satanic Friday night? This, we ask you.

If you haven’t heard Flaming Tusk blast their new material, from their forthcoming album, at you in a live setting then you simply have no excuse for missing this show. Also Wizardry and Empyreon are pretty good. Also half-naked, tattooed go-go girls dancing and cheap beer.

21+, bands go on at 10 PM. FREE.

Flaming Tusk has crawled out from the studio and begun applying salve to its whip wounds. Eight songs. Quarts of blood lost. The fraying thread of sobriety.

We’ll get it out to you as soon as we get some artwork and figure out how many trucks we’ll need and of what size.

In the meantime here are a few more snippets:

Don Blood and Xristophage test drive a mix

The mixing process doesn’t lend itself to too many photogenic moments, so that’s that. However, good ol’ Vanshnookenraggen dropped by a couple of times during both weeks with his camera.

Your first opportunity to hear some of the new material live is this week. October 9 at Public Assembly.

Flaming Tusk will be storming Nuthouse Recording in the grim burg of Hoboken this month to begin recording the followup to the Abigail EP. Producer and engineer Tom Beaujour bravely volunteered to withstand the onslaught and attempt to capture the horror on his hard drives.

Beaujour won reknown for his excellent engineering work on Nada Surf’s Weight Is A Gift, but has lately been indulging his love of metal by producing and recording Scale The Summit’s Prosthetic Records release Carving Desert Canyons, among other projects. He says he hopes that tracking Flaming Tusk will twist Nuthouse into an irretrievably kvlt house of torture, and we plan to do everything in our power to satisfy that desire.

Our great work begins on September 18. Look for an early winter release date, and watch this space for updates.
